ariel india- SHARE THE LOAD

Updated: May 13, 2019

is laundry only a women's job?? A question that took over the face of a revolutionary movement is a brainchild of the P&G owned Ariel who teamed up with mediacom and BBDO India to bring up the masterpiece.

who would have thought a laundry detergent brand would go on to burst stereotypes surrounding women and their responsibilities adhering to social norms.

Ariel has been unearthing the reality of inequality within households with #sharetheload.

Ariel has a thought process to address equality, aspiring for happier households where men and women share the load equally.

It aims to bring about a more equal tomorrow by teaching our sons what we teach our daughters.

By raising the next generation as equals, we can become change makers.

The video embedded below raises the question, “Are we teaching are sons what we’ve been teaching our daughters ?”. The ad pictures a mom talking to her daughter who is going to quit her job to do the household work as her husband does’nt know how to do household chores. The mother who is cleaning her son’s room at the same time realizes that the change should begin from home and henceforth the son helps her rather than sitting and playing games.

So the main agenda of the video is that the same mothers who let their sons get away with things feel sorry for their daughters. If they were treated the same way throughout, no such problem would arise.

Today,40% of men dont know how to operate the washing machine. Not because it is not available for them, it’s just the matter of choices and what we‘ve been seeing for long.

Men have never chose to do the household chores, but have the women chosen it? No!

So it’s time we all come together and #sharetheload equally.

i am delighted to be a part of this initiative taken by Ariel India.

i was sent this Hamper of Equality which has something for every age group in a family.

Ariel’s #sharetheload campaign is about equal ownership of chores. We live in such a buzy world where men and women are ranked equally In every field, so why not household too? Nobody is asked here to take the full responsibilty on thier shoulders but to #sharetheload

70% of men across the country believe household chores are a woman’s job. The root cause for this is the passing down of this prejudice from one generation to the next. Children learn what they see. Research shows that 71% of children today ask their mothers to do the laundry. Why? Because they've never seen their dads do laundry. As a result, they grow up imitating what they’ve seen and learnt at home. Ariel has taken an initiation on changing this mindset at homes.
